Media NEA Blog Entry: 12

Multimedia Project Planning - A Top 5 of either foods/restaurants or travel locations. These will be based off my personal experiences.

1) Introduction:

- I have chosen to use this topic for my multimedia because it poses as a relevant idea towards making my magazine's realism be heightened. This style of content is synonymous with other mainstream magazines and reviewers for foods and restaurants, which is one of my themes for my magazine. The purpose as stated is to heighten the magazine's realism. My magazine's ethos will be embedded in the content through the way I breakdown and explain the Top 5, their strengths and weaknesses, etc. Some extra representations may be shown through cinematography and editing, where I hope to make the video seem as clean and as professional as possible.

2) Production Roles:

- All production roles are covered by me, as I am the sole person working on my task for the NEA.

-  General production roles include:

Producer - This person is essentially the group leader and is responsible for managing the production from start to finish.

Director - The director is primarily responsible for overseeing the shooting and assembly of a film.

Screenwriter - a writer carefully crafts dialogue. However, the screenwriter does far more, they also shapes the sequence of events in a film to ensure that story will unfold logically and in an interesting way.

Production Designer - Before a film is shot, the production designer is the first artist to translate the script into visual form. They create a series of storyboards that serve as the film's first draft.

Art Director - The art director is responsible for the film's settings: the buildings, landscapes and interiors that provide the physical context for the characters.

Costume Designer - Designs costumes which add meaning to the characters and solidifies cues of settings.

Cinematographer - The director of photography, or DP, is responsible for capturing the script on film or video.

Editor - Shortly after shooting begins, the editor begins to organise the footage and arranges individual shots into one continuous sequence.

Actors - Responsible for portraying the characters in a film.

Music Supervisor - Selects appropriate music/sound for scenes to heighten production quality.

3) Shooting Script:

4) Shot types and movement:

- I will use a variety of shots to set the scene, show the audience the food/reason I am there, the locations and keep a neutral view in movement as to make my actions normal. I will use shots like Long/Extreme long shots to establish a scene/area where a restaurant may be located; close up shots for showing the food or names of the places I am visiting; mid-close up shots of myself(if I film myself) eating the food as to capture my emotions.

•establishing shot
•close-up
•mid-shot
•long shot
•wide shot
•two-shot
•aerial shot
•point of view shot
•over the shoulder shot

5) Video Style:

- Examples of video cinematography I could use include:
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xmkeiMoDYg
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDWzMUbdg6c
  • These examples serve as a basis for what I will make, but give good insight into what style I want my piece of content to be.

6) Production Schedule and Paperwork:

Risk assessment- I believe there to be minimal risk of dangerous activity while I roam Central London.
Location scouting- This will be done by walking around after researching where I need to go.
Location list- Again, this will be finalised after I research the final top 5.
Equipment- I may just use my phone.
Soundtrack- will be downloaded from YouTube, will be a free/NFP track.
Script- I will make a script to voice-over the panning shots of places in the video.
Budget: Small, I don't want to spend much
Crew details: Just me

7) Storyboard:

- don't know yet :/
